The germ for this website was the 70+ photo albums I hauled home from Chattanooga when we cleaned out Dad’s house. It was clearly not practical to keep them but I didn’t want to lose the content. I determined that I could digitize them and build a website. Lucky for me, the Knox County Public Library recently installed two public workstations with excellent flatbed scanners.
As I write this I have uploaded 7 albums worth of photos to the site and built galleries for each of them. I try to create a title and caption for each picture. I am still looking to find my voice for the site but I think I will write the captions mostly in the first person. I try to name as many people and places as I can. If someone is identified only by first name you can assume that their last name is Andreae. Non-family will get a first and last name, at least on first reference.
I haven’t set up an email address for the site yet so until then you can reach me at pvandreae@gmail.com. I plan to make blog posts as new albums or features are added. Once the photos are done I would like to add short bios for the primary people as well as interesting facts about some of the places in the pictures. After that, I hope to add geneaological information.
Cheers.
